What is Atex?
“ATEX”, an abbreviation for “ATmospheres EXplosible”, is a set of directives this at are implied to mark up the security and safety of products, equipment, lighting, cameras, walkie-talkies and power tools to be used by operators in potentially explosive environments. The Atex Directive which became law in 2006 stipulates that areas where potentially explosive atmospheres could be present must be classified on the frequency and nature of the explosive atmosphere:
